Abstract

The era of disruption is characterized by technological acceleration, social transformation, and psychological pressures that contribute to increased anxiety, stress, and a crisis of spiritual meaning across various segments of society. In this context, tazkiyatun nafs (spiritual purification/education of the soul) in the Qur’an offers a strong spiritual foundation with potential as a psychospiritual therapeutic framework. This study aims to analyze the concept of tazkiyatun nafs in the Qur’an and examine its relevance to the development of spiritual therapy models in the era of disruption, while also identifying the position of this study within the research landscape of the last five years. This research employs a library research approach with thematic analysis of Qur’anic verses related to spiritual purification, combined with a systematic literature review of reputable international and national journals published between 2020–2025. The findings indicate that Qur’anic values such as takhalli, tahalli, and tajalli, along with the strengthening of practices such as muhasabah, patience, gratitude, and reliance on God (tawakkul), have strong relevance to contemporary spiritual therapy needs. However, the study also reveals a limited number of empirical studies that develop psychologically measurable spiritual therapy models based on tazkiyatun nafs. Therefore, this study offers novelty in the form of strengthening a conceptual framework that may be developed into a structured Qur’anic psychospiritual therapy model with the potential for integration into modern psychological approaches. Theoretically, this study enriches Islamic education and Islamic psychology discourse, while practically providing direction for developing relevant spiritual intervention strategies to address mental health challenges in the era of disruption.

ABSTRAK

Era disrupsi ditandai dengan percepatan teknologi, perubahan sosial, dan tekanan psikologis yang berimplikasi pada meningkatnya kecemasan, stres, serta krisis makna spiritual pada berbagai lapisan masyarakat. Dalam konteks ini, tazkiyatun nafs (pendidikan jiwa/penyucian diri) dalam Al-Qur’an menawarkan fondasi spiritual yang potensial sebagai terapi psikospiritual. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis konsep tazkiyatun nafs dalam Al-Qur’an dan mengkaji relevansinya terhadap pengembangan model terapi spiritual di era disrupsi, sekaligus mengidentifikasi posisi penelitian ini dalam peta riset lima tahun terakhir. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan library research dengan analisis tematik terhadap ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an terkait penyucian jiwa, dikombinasikan dengan systematic literature review jurnal internasional dan nasional bereputasi periode 2020–2025. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa nilai-nilai Qur’ani seperti takhalli, tahalli, dan tajalli serta penguatan muhasabah, sabar, syukur, dan tawakkal memiliki relevansi kuat dengan kebutuhan terapi spiritual modern. Namun, temuan juga menunjukkan masih terbatasnya penelitian empiris yang mengembangkan model terapi spiritual berbasis tazkiyatun nafs yang terukur secara psikologis. Karena itu, penelitian ini menawarkan novelty berupa penguatan kerangka konseptual yang dapat dikembangkan menjadi model terapi psikospiritual Qur’ani terstruktur dan berpotensi diintegrasikan dengan pendekatan psikologi modern. Secara teoretis, penelitian ini memperkaya kajian pendidikan Islam dan psikologi Islam, sedangkan secara praktis memberikan arah pengembangan intervensi spiritual yang relevan dengan problem mental masyarakat era disrupsi.
