Abstract

ABSTRACT

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has driven transformations across various aspects of education, including the development of learning media for Islamic Religious Education (IRE). Numerous studies have examined the application of AI in education; however, research focusing specifically on the use of Artificial Intelligence-based chatbots as learning media in Islamic Religious Education remains limited and therefore warrants further investigation. This study aims to analyze the utilization of Artificial Intelligence-based chatbots as learning media in Islamic Religious Education and to identify the opportunities and challenges associated with their implementation in the digital learning environment. This study employed a qualitative approach using library research. Data were collected through a documentation study of relevant journal articles, conference proceedings, books, and scholarly documents published between 2020 and 2026, retrieved from Google Scholar, Scopus, ERIC, and Dimensions databases. Data were analyzed using the content analysis method. The findings indicate that Artificial Intelligence-based chatbots have the potential to enhance students’ learning motivation, engagement, accessibility to learning materials, and overall learning effectiveness through interactive, responsive, and personalized services. In addition, chatbots can be utilized as tools for Islamic learning consultation, self-directed learning assistance, and learning assessment. However, their implementation still faces challenges related to the validity of religious information, digital literacy, ethical concerns, and infrastructure readiness. Therefore, Artificial Intelligence-based chatbots can serve as an innovative learning media alternative in Islamic Religious Education, provided that they are supported by content validation, educators’ digital competencies, and appropriate educational policies.

ABSTRAK

Perkembangan teknologi Artificial Intelligence (AI) telah mendorong transformasi dalam berbagai aspek pendidikan, termasuk pengembangan media pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI). Berbagai penelitian telah membahas pemanfaatan AI dalam pendidikan, namun kajian mengenai penggunaan chatbot berbasis Artificial Intelligence sebagai media pembelajaran PAI masih terbatas sehingga perlu dikaji lebih lanjut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pemanfaatan chatbot berbasis Artificial Intelligence sebagai media pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam serta mengidentifikasi peluang dan tantangan implementasinya dalam pembelajaran di era digital. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian kepustakaan (library research). Data diperoleh melalui studi dokumentasi terhadap artikel jurnal, prosiding, buku, dan dokumen ilmiah yang relevan pada periode 2020-2026 yang ditelusuri melalui Google Scholar, Scopus, ERIC, dan Dimensions. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan metode content analysis. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa chatbot berbasis Artificial Intelligence berpotensi meningkatkan motivasi belajar, keterlibatan peserta didik, aksesibilitas materi, serta efektivitas pembelajaran melalui layanan yang interaktif, responsif, dan personal. Selain itu, chatbot dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai media konsultasi keislaman, pendamping belajar mandiri, serta sarana evaluasi pembelajaran. Namun, implementasinya masih menghadapi tantangan berupa validitas informasi keagamaan, literasi digital, aspek etika, dan kesiapan infrastruktur. Dengan demikian, chatbot berbasis Artificial Intelligence dapat menjadi alternatif media pembelajaran inovatif dalam PAI apabila didukung oleh validasi konten, kompetensi digital pendidik, dan kebijakan yang memadai.
