Historical educational archives are important assets for preserving collective memory, institutional identity, and local historical knowledge. However, the understanding of the significance of archives as historical heritage within school environments still needs to be strengthened. UPT SD Negeri 269 Gresik, located in Sidomulyo, Sidayu District, Gresik Regency, is the current site associated with Sekolah Rakyat Sidayu, which, based on preliminary observations of the old building, educational documents, and historical information from the community, is suspected to have a connection with the Europeesche Lagere School (ELS) during the Dutch colonial period. This community service activity aimed to improve the understanding and awareness of the school community regarding the importance of preserving the historical educational archives of Sekolah Rakyat Sidayu as part of local history. The activity employed the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach through the stages of community asset identification, relationship building, socialization, and evaluation. The activity was conducted on November 25–26, 2025, with a total of 16 participants consisting of teachers, educational staff, and students from UPT SD Negeri 269 Gresik. The implementation methods included observation, discussion, and socialization activities on the historical value of archives involving teachers, educational staff, and students. The results showed an increase in participants’ understanding based on the pre-test and post-test evaluation, with the average score improving from 66.25 to 85.00, representing an increase of 18.75 points. All participants demonstrated improved understanding and provided positive responses toward the socialization activity on local historical archive preservation.
