ABSTRACT
Lack of family knowledge in caring for post-operative wounds in children is a serious threat to safety, successful recovery, and increases the risk of infection in children. This study aims to evaluate the impact of education using booklets on improving the knowledge of pediatric patients' families regarding post-operative wound care at Dr. H. Abdul Moeloek Regional General Hospital. This study design was quantitative using a quasi-experimental approach, with a pre-post test in one group. The sampling technique used purposive sampling involving 31 families of pediatric patients who had undergone surgery. Data collection was carried out using a knowledge questionnaire (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.797) filled out before and after being given education using booklets. Data analysis used a dependent t-test. The results showed that education using booklets significantly improved family knowledge regarding post-operative wound care in children (p = 0.005). In line with social learning theory, this study provides a positive contribution to the development of print-based educational approaches in hospitals, and has practical implications in improving the quality of post-operative care in pediatric patients through the application of Family Center Care (FCC) principles.
ABSTRAK
Kurangnya pengetahuan keluarga dalam merawat luka pasca operasi pada anak merupakan ancaman yang serius terhadap keselamatan, keberhasilan pemulihan, dan meningkatnya risiko infeksi pada anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi dampak edukasi menggunakan media booklet terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan keluarga pasien anak terkait perawatan luka pasca operasi di RSUD Dr. H. Abdul Moeloek. Desain penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif menggunakan pendekatan quasi eksperimen, dengan pre-post test pada satu kelompok. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling dengan melibatkan 31 keluarga pasien anak yang telah menjalani operasi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner pengetahuan (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0,797) yang diisi sebelum dan setelah diberikan edukasi menggunakan media booklet. Analisis data menggunakan uji dependent t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa edukasi menggunakan media booklet secara signifikan meningkatkan pengetahuan keluarga mengenai perawatan luka pasca operasi pada anak (p = 0,005). Sejalan dengan teori pembelajaran sosial, penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi positif pada pengembangan pendekatan edukasi berbasis media cetak di rumah sakit, serta memiliki implikasi praktis dalam meningkatkan kualitas perawatan pasca operasi pada pasien anak melalui penerapan prinsip Family Centre Care (FCC).
