Abstract

Family is the first environment that influences the psychological development of individuals, especially adolescents. The quality of attachment greatly influences individuals in responding to interpersonal relationships later on. Phubbing can basically be influenced by the quality of attachment between parents and adolescents. Therefore, this study aims to identify the influence between phubbing and the quality of attachment between adolescents and parents. Researchers collected 237 adolescent participants with an age range of 13 to 18 years in West Kalimantan. The method used is quantitative with a purposive sampling technique. The measuring instruments used in this study were the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA) and the Generic Scale Phubbing (GSP). The results of the study using regression analysis showed that the quality of attachment has an influence on phubbing behavior in family interactions (t = -11.407, p <0.05) which means negative and significant. that is, it can be concluded that the quality of attachment between adolescents and their parents can strengthen and weaken the influence of phubbing behavior in family interactions.
