The rapid development of digital technology has transformed learning media, including in Islamic Religious Education (IRE). Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) offer more interactive, immersive, and adaptive learning experiences that can enhance students’ engagement and understanding. This study aims to analyze the utilization of AR, VR, and AI as learning media in IRE and to examine their potential and challenges in the digital era. The study employed a qualitative approach using library research. Data were collected from 30 national and international journal articles published between 2020 and 2025, supported by books, conference proceedings, and other relevant scholarly documents. Data were analyzed using content analysis. The findings indicate that AR facilitates the visualization of abstract Islamic concepts, VR provides contextual learning experiences through virtual simulations, and AI supports personalized learning by delivering tailored materials and feedback. These technologies have the potential to improve learning motivation, student participation, conceptual understanding, and instructional effectiveness. However, their implementation requires adequate digital competencies among teachers, sufficient technological infrastructure, high-quality educational content, and sustainable educational policies. Therefore, the integration of AR, VR, and AI can serve as a strategic approach to developing innovative and relevant learning media for Islamic Religious Education in the 21st century.
