Abstract

ABSTRACT

The selection process for Tourism Ambassadors requires not only communication skills, tourism knowledge, and appearance, but also character and psychological readiness to perform their roles as representatives of tourism. However, the personal and psychological aspects of finalists have not always been a primary focus of the development process, highlighting the need for mentoring that helps participants recognize their values, priorities, and personal motivations. This community service activity aimed to provide psychological mentoring through reflective interviews and character strengthening for the 2026 Tourism Ambassador finalists. The activity involved 15 finalists and consisted of four stages: preparation, reflective interviews using three questions concerning life principles, life priorities, and personal motivation, individual feedback and character strengthening, and participant reflection-based evaluation. The results showed that finalists’ life principles were dominated by integrity and honesty, followed by self-development and courage in facing challenges. Life priorities mainly included self-development, family and parents, career, and personal achievement, while motivation was reflected in perseverance, self-development, self-confidence, optimism, and spirituality. Psychological mentoring provided participants with opportunities to reflect on their personal values, priorities, and motivations and connect them with integrity, self-development, and commitment to their roles as Tourism Ambassadors.
