Abstract

ABSTRACT

Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) instruction in tennis requires adequate opportunities for students to develop forehand and backhand skills through structured and repeated practice. However, in classes with large numbers of students, limited practice time and extended waiting periods may reduce opportunities for active participation. This study focuses on the implementation of an automatic tennis drill machine in PJOK instruction and examines changes in students’ learning outcomes based on pretest and posttest scores. The study was designed as Classroom Action Research (CAR), which involves planning, action, observation, and reflection. The instructional intervention involved using an automatic drill machine to deliver repeated ball feeds during tennis lessons. The participants comprised 138 students from three classes: Class A (45 students), Class B (46 students), and Class C (47 students). The available data consisted of pretest and posttest scores, which were analyzed descriptively by calculating mean scores, score differences, and learning mastery based on the minimum mastery criterion of 78. The results showed that the mean score increased from 62.50 on the pretest to 80.00 on the posttest, representing an increase of 17.50 points. A total of 98 students (71.01%) achieved the minimum mastery criterion, while 40 students (28.99%) did not. These findings indicate an increase in scores following the instructional process in the analyzed data. Therefore, an automatic tennis drill machine may serve as a supportive instructional tool for tennis lessons in PJOK. However, because cycle-specific scores, observation records, and reflection reports were not available, the effectiveness of the intervention in each individual cycle cannot yet be determined.
