Abstract

ABSTRACT

The phenomenon of the UFO sighting in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947 remains a subject of intense debate among scientists, military officials, and the general public. The incident has given rise to numerous theories regarding the existence of extraterrestrial beings and the possibility of life beyond Earth. From an Islamic perspective, the Qur’an and Hadith do not explicitly mention aliens or extraterrestrial life. However, both sources provide indications of the vast diversity of Allah’s creations in the heavens and the earth—many of which remain unknown to humankind. This article aims to analyze the 1947 Roswell incident through an Islamic lens using a literature review approach. The analysis examines Qur’anic verses related to the creation of beings throughout the universe, as well as interpretations from Muslim scholars and scientists concerning the potential existence of life beyond Earth. The findings suggest that Islam does not deny the possibility of other creatures apart from humans, as long as they are recognized as part of Allah’s creations. Therefore, the Roswell phenomenon can be viewed as a reflection of Allah’s greatness, demonstrating the vastness of His creation and reminding humanity to continue exploring knowledge and scientific inquiry while remaining grounded in faith.
