Abstract

ABSTRACT

The purpose of the analysis of the image of women focused on the main female characters in the short story collection Sumi and Gambarnya by Ratna Indraswari Ibrahim is to find out the image of women presented by Ratna Indraswari Ibrahim in the short story collection Sumi and Gambarnya. In order for this research to be carried out systematically and directed, the research question is formulated, namely: "How is the image of the main female characters in the short story collection Sumi and Gambarnya by Ratna Indraswari Ibrahim?". This type of research is qualitative research using an objective approach and an expressive approach. While the research method used is a descriptive method. The results of this study conclude that the image of the main female characters in the short story collection Sumi and Gambarnya by Ratna Indraswari Ibrahim can be seen from the general image and the specific image. The general image in the short story collection Sumi and Gambarnya can be seen from the character of each of the main female characters. The characters of the main female characters in the short story collection Sumi and Gambarnya are described as women who are patient, obedient, and full of responsibility in carrying out the dual tasks and roles they carry out. Meanwhile, the image can be seen specifically from the roles carried out by each of the main female characters, such as their roles as a child, wife, mother of their children, sister, maid, secretary to the company director, marketing manager, lover and best friend. It is recommended that other researchers examine this short story collection Sumi and Gambarnya, using other approaches.

ABSTRAK

Tujuan analisis citra wanita yang difokuskan pada tokoh-tokoh utama wanita dalam kumpulan cerpen Sumi dan Gambarnya karya Ratna Indraswari Ibrahim ini adalah, untuk mengetahui citra wanita yang ditampilkan Ratna Indraswari Ibrahim dalam kumpulan cerpen Sumi dan Gambarnya. Agar penelitian ini dapat dilakukan secara sistematis dan terarah, maka dirumuskan pertanyaan penelitian, yaitu: "Bagaimanakah citra tokoh-tokoh utama wanita dalam kumpulan cerpen Sumi dan Gambarnya karya Ratna Indraswari Ibrahim?". Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan objektif dan pendekatan ekspresif. Sedangkan metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah metode deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa citra tokoh-tokoh utama wanita dalam kumpulan cerpen Sumi dan Gambarnya karya Ratna Indraswari Ibrahim, dapat dilihat dari citra secara umum dan citra secara khusus. Citra secara umum dalam kumpulan cerpen Sumi dan Gambarnya, dapat dilihat dari karakter masing-masing tokoh-tokoh utama wanita. Karakter tokoh-tokoh utama wanita dalam kumpulan cerpen Sumi dan Gambarnya, digambarkan sebagai wanita yang memiliki sifat penyabar, patuh, dan penuh tanggung jawab dalam menjalankan tugas dan peran ganda yang diembannya. Sedangkan citra secara khusus dapat dilihat dari peran yang diemban masing-masing tokoh-tokoh utama wanita, seperti peranya sebagai anak, istri, ibu dari anak-anaknya, kakak, pembantu, sekretaris direktur perusahaan, manejer marketing, kekasih dan sahabat. Disarankan agar peneliti lainnya meneliti kumpulan cerpen Sumi dan Gambarnya ini, dengan menggunakan pendekatan lainnya.
