PSIKOLOGI AGAMA & SPIRITUALITAS MAHASISWA: ASPEK EMOSIONAL, KETENANGAN JIWA, DAN AKTUALISASI SPIRITUAL DI TENGAH TEKANAN AKADEMIK

ABSTRACT
University students face complex academic pressures that may affect their emotional stability and mental well-being. This study aims to examine the role of the psychology of religion and spirituality in fostering inner peace, emotional regulation, and self-actualization among students in higher education settings. The study employed a systematic literature review method by analyzing 25 empirical and theoretical articles retrieved from Google Scholar, Scopus, and Dimensions databases published between 2021 and 2024. This time frame was selected to capture the most recent developments in research on spirituality and student mental health. The findings indicate that spiritual practices such as prayer (salat), dhikr, and reflection on the Qur’an contribute positively to students’ emotional resilience and psychological tranquility. Most of the reviewed studies also revealed that intrinsic religiosity is positively associated with psychological well-being and adaptive coping strategies in dealing with academic stress. The study concludes that integrating spiritual values into academic life can serve as an effective strategy for supporting students’ holistic development. The novelty of this review lies in its synthesis of recent literature that integrates the perspectives of the psychology of religion and spirituality as a conceptual framework for strengthening student mental health in higher education.
ABSTRAK
Mahasiswa menghadapi berbagai tekanan akademik yang berpotensi memengaruhi stabilitas emosi dan kesehatan mental mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji peran psikologi agama dan spiritualitas dalam membentuk ketenangan jiwa, regulasi emosi, dan aktualisasi diri mahasiswa di lingkungan perguruan tinggi. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi literatur sistematis terhadap 30 artikel empiris dan teoretis yang diperoleh dari basis data Google Scholar, Scopus, dan Dimensions periode 2020–2026. Pemilihan rentang waktu tersebut didasarkan pada upaya memperoleh gambaran terkini mengenai perkembangan kajian spiritualitas dan kesehatan mental mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa praktik spiritual seperti salat, dzikir, dan tadabbur Al-Qur’an berkontribusi positif terhadap resiliensi emosional dan ketenangan jiwa mahasiswa. Sebagian besar artikel yang dianalisis juga menunjukkan bahwa orientasi keagamaan intrinsik berkorelasi positif dengan kesejahteraan psikologis serta kemampuan koping adaptif dalam menghadapi tekanan akademik. Kesimpulan penelitian menegaskan bahwa integrasi nilai-nilai spiritual dalam kehidupan akademik dapat menjadi strategi efektif untuk mendukung perkembangan mahasiswa secara holistik. Kebaruan kajian ini terletak pada sintesis literatur mutakhir yang mengintegrasikan perspektif psikologi agama dan spiritualitas sebagai landasan konseptual dalam penguatan kesehatan mental mahasiswa di perguruan tinggi.
