Abstract

ABSTRACT

Given that sleep is one of the basic aspects in maintaining emotional balance and cognitive function, understanding the relationship between sleep quality and aggression behavior is very crucial. Poor sleep quality has been widely associated with increased levels of stress, emotional imbalance, and various other psychological disorders that can affect a person's self-control towards aggressiveness. The goal of this study is to examine the role of sleep quality on the tendency of aggressive behavior in early adult individuals. This study uses a quantitative approach with a population of 246 respondents aged 18 to 25 years. The instruments used to measure the variables of sleep quality and aggression are the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and the Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ). The results indicated that there was a significant and moderately strong relationship between sleep quality and aggressiveness behavior, with a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.580 and an R Square value of 0.336. This indicates that sleep quality has contributed as much as 33.6% to the variation in aggressiveness behavior in early adult individuals. Thus, it can be inferred that the worse a person's sleep quality, the higher the individual's tendency to show aggression behavior
