Abstract

ABSTRACT

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease known as the silent killer and is still considered a global health problem. In addition to increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease, hypertension is also associated with impaired glucose metabolism through stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system and the Renin–Angiotensin–Aldosterone System (RAAS). However, the relationship between fasting blood glucose and blood pressure among participants of the Hypertension Chronic Disease Management Program (Prolanis) has remained inconsistent; therefore, further investigation is required. This study aimed to analyze the association between fasting blood glucose and blood pressure among hypertensive Prolanis participants. The study employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 35 participants were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Fasting blood glucose was measured using the enzymatic colorimetric method (GOD-PAP) with a BS-200 Chemistry Autoanalyzer, whereas blood pressure was measured using a sphygmomanometer. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk test and Spearman correlation test. The results showed that the mean fasting blood glucose level was 155 mg/dL, ranging from 79 to 282 mg/dL, while blood pressure ranged from 117/69 to 180/106 mmHg. Spearman correlation analysis indicated no significant association between fasting blood glucose and systolic blood pressure (r = 0.129; p = 0.461) or diastolic blood pressure (r = 0.129; p = 0.462). It was concluded that fasting blood glucose was not significantly correlated with blood pressure among hypertensive Prolanis participants.

Hipertensi adalah penyakit tidak menular yang dikenal sebutan silent killer serta masih dianggap masalah kesehatan global. Selain meningkatkan risiko penyakit kardiovaskular, hipertensi juga berhubungan dengan gangguan metabolisme glukosa melalui stimulasi sistem saraf simpatis serta sistem Renin–Angiotensin–Aldosteron (RAAS). Namun, hubungan antara glukosa darah puasa serta tekanan darah partisipan Program Pengelolaan Penyakit Kronis (Prolanis) hipertensi tetap memberikan hasil yang belum konsisten alhasil perlu dikaji lebih mendalam. Studi ini tujuannya menganalisis kaitan antara glukosa darah puasa serta tekanan darah peserta Prolanis hipertensi. Penelitian menerapkan rancangan observasional analitik melalui pendekatan cross-sectional. Sejumlah 35 peserta diseleksi melalui cara purposive sampling. Glukosa darah puasa diukur dengan metode enzimatik kolorimetri (GOD-PAP) menggunakan BS-200 Chemistry Autoanalyzer, adapun tekanan darah diukur dengan tensimeter. Pengolahan data menggunakan uji Shapiro–Wilk dan korelasi Spearman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rerata glukosa darah puasa sebesar 155 mg/dL dengan rentang 79–282 mg/dL, sedangkan tekanan darah berkisar 117/69–180/106 mmHg. Uji Spearman menyatakan tidak ada keterikatan spesifik antara glukosa darah puasa disertai tekanan darah sistolik (r = 0,129; p = 0,461) maupun diastolik (r = 0,129; p = 0,462). Disimpulkan bahwa glukosa darah puasa tidak berkorelasi secara bermakna dengan tekanan darah peserta Prolanis hipertensi.
