Abstract

ABSTRACT

Long-distance kicking is an important football skill because it is used to switch play, deliver lofted passes, clear the ball, and initiate attacks from defensive areas. This study aimed to determine the effects of lunges and barrier hop training on the long-distance kicking ability of SSB Balga United football players in 2023. This research used an experimental method with a two-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 20 players divided into two groups: a lunges training group and a barrier hop training group, with 10 players in each group. The training program was conducted over 18 sessions with a frequency of three sessions per week. The research instrument was a lofted long-pass test measured in meters. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Shapiro-Wilk normality test, homogeneity test, paired sample t-test, and independent sample t-test on gain scores. The results showed that the lunges group improved from 35.51±4.69 m to 36.59±4.46 m, with an increase of 1.08 m or 3.04%, t(9)=5.35; p<0.001. The barrier hop group improved from 35.74±4.34 m to 36.92±4.09 m, with an increase of 1.18 m or 3.30%, t(9)=8.88; p<0.001. The between-group comparison of gain scores showed t(18)=0.41; p=0.684. Therefore, both lunges and barrier hop training effectively improved long-distance kicking ability, while barrier hop showed a greater descriptive improvement but was not statistically different.

ABSTRAK

Tendangan jarak jauh merupakan keterampilan penting dalam sepak bola karena digunakan untuk mengalihkan permainan, mengirim umpan lambung, melakukan clearance, dan membangun serangan dari area bertahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh latihan lunges dan barrier hop terhadap kemampuan tendangan jarak jauh pemain sepak bola SSB Balga United Tahun 2023. Penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan desain two-group pretest-posttest. Sampel berjumlah 20 pemain yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok latihan lunges dan kelompok latihan barrier hop, masing-masing 10 pemain. Program latihan dilaksanakan selama 18 pertemuan dengan frekuensi tiga kali per minggu. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan tes tendangan lambung atau long pass dengan satuan meter. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif, uji normalitas Shapiro-Wilk, uji homogenitas, paired sample t-test, dan independent sample t-test terhadap skor peningkatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelompok lunges meningkat dari 35,51±4,69 m menjadi 36,59±4,46 m, dengan peningkatan 1,08 m atau 3,04% dan nilai t(9)=5,35; p<0,001. Kelompok barrier hop meningkat dari 35,74±4,34 m menjadi 36,92±4,09 m, dengan peningkatan 1,18 m atau 3,30% dan nilai t(9)=8,88; p<0,001. Uji beda peningkatan antarkelompok menunjukkan t(18)=0,41; p=0,684. Dengan demikian, latihan lunges dan barrier hop sama-sama efektif meningkatkan kemampuan tendangan jarak jauh, sedangkan barrier hop menunjukkan peningkatan lebih besar secara deskriptif tetapi tidak berbeda signifikan secara statistik.
