Abstract

This study aims to map global trends in educational video research during the period 2020–2025 thru a bibliometric analysis approach. Data was collected from indexed scientific databases and analyzed using key indicators such as contributing countries, document types, and subject areas to identify publication patterns, collaborations, and emerging scientific research focuses. The analysis results show that the countries with the highest contribution to educational video publications are dominated by the United States, China, and the United Kingdom, reflecting the high research capacity and international collaboration in these countries. In terms of document type, journal articles are the most dominant form of publication, indicating that research on video learning has reached an academic maturity stage with numerous empirical and theoretical studies published in reputable journals. Meanwhile, from a subject area perspective, the fields of education and learning technology are the main focus, followed by studies in psychology and computer science, which play a role in the development of adaptive videos and artificial intelligence-based learning. Overall, the results of this study provide a comprehensive overview of the global direction and dynamics of educational video research and can serve as a reference for future researchers in identifying opportunities for collaboration and research development.
