Abstract

ABSTRACT

Balancing academic and work responsibilities places university students in a situation that requires them to manage multiple aspects of life simultaneously. In this context, gratitude may represent a psychological factor associated with individuals’ ability to maintain their well-being. This study examined the relationship between gratitude and psychological well-being among university students who work while pursuing their studies. A quantitative correlational approach was employed, involving 160 students selected through purposive sampling based on the study criteria. Data were collected using gratitude and psychological well-being scales and analyzed through normality testing, linearity testing, and simple linear regression. The findings revealed a strong positive relationship between gratitude and psychological well-being (R = 0.712; p < 0.001). The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.507) indicated that the model explained 50.7% of the variance in psychological well-being scores, while the remaining variance was not explained by the model. The positive regression coefficient (B = 1.150) indicated that higher gratitude scores were associated with higher psychological well-being scores. These findings position gratitude as one relevant factor in understanding the well-being of students who simultaneously fulfill academic and work responsibilities. Practically, the results may provide preliminary insights for higher education institutions in developing well-being promotion initiatives for working students while recognizing that other factors may also be associated with their psychological condition.
