Faktor, Kejadian WastingAbstract
Wasting is a condition when a child's weight decreases, is very low, or even below the normal range based on their height BB/TB (Z score) <-2 SD. The incidence of wasting in Indonesia in 2022 was 10.2%. In East Java it was 7.2% and in Jember Regency it was 12.7% while in Kasiyan Health Center it was 9.4%. (SSGI 2022). The major impact that can be given by children with wasting is a decrease in cognitive abilities. This study aims to describe the factors that influence the incidence of wasting. The research design used descriptive analytic. The study population was 406 mothers/caregivers of wasting toddlers, a sample of 89 respondents and the sampling technique used non-probability sampling with a purposive sampling approach. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results showed inadequate food intake (49.81%), a history of illness (diarrhea, fever) of (66.5%) and inappropriate nutritional parenting patterns of (72.73%). Conclusion: A history of infectious diseases in toddlers and inappropriate nutritional care are risk factors for wasting. Increasing mothers' knowledge about adequate food intake, infectious diseases, and nutritional care through integrated health posts (Posyandu) and classes for mothers of toddlers.
