Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Bioheritage School Mapping project in enhancing students’ environmental literacy and conservation awareness at SMA Negeri 1 Kebun Tebu as an Adiwiyata School. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, focusing on the stages of project implementation, including planning, data collection, digital mapping using Google My Maps, and collaboration among students. The project also integrates local wisdom values with environmental education practices. The findings reveal that the implementation of Bioheritage School Mapping significantly improves students’ understanding of plant diversity within the school environment and strengthens their awareness of conservation practices. Students demonstrate increased engagement, responsibility, and collaboration during the learning process. In addition, the use of digital tools supports interactive and contextual learning experiences, making the learning process more meaningful and relevant. These findings imply that project-based environmental learning supported by digital mapping technology can serve as an effective strategy to foster environmental literacy, promote conservation awareness, and develop students’ active participation in sustainable practices within the Adiwiyata framework.

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas proyek Bioheritage School Mapping dalam meningkatkan literasi lingkungan dan kesadaran konservasi siswa di SMA Negeri 1 Kebun Tebu sebagai Sekolah Adiwiyata. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi dengan fokus pada tahapan implementasi proyek, meliputi perencanaan, pengumpulan data, pemetaan digital menggunakan Google My Maps, serta kolaborasi antar siswa. Proyek ini juga mengintegrasikan nilai kearifan lokal dengan praktik pendidikan lingkungan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi Bioheritage School Mapping mampu meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap keanekaragaman tumbuhan di lingkungan sekolah serta memperkuat kesadaran terhadap pentingnya konservasi. Siswa menunjukkan peningkatan keterlibatan, tanggung jawab, dan kerja sama selama proses pembelajaran. Selain itu, pemanfaatan teknologi digital mendukung terciptanya pembelajaran yang interaktif, kontekstual, dan bermakna. Temuan ini mengimplikasikan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis proyek yang didukung teknologi pemetaan digital efektif dalam mengembangkan literasi lingkungan, menumbuhkan kesadaran konservasi, serta mendorong partisipasi aktif siswa dalam praktik berkelanjutan dalam kerangka Sekolah Adiwiyata.
