The low learning outcomes of badminton backhand service among seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 7 Ambon were caused by conventional teaching methods that failed to promote active student engagement. This study aimed to improve backhand service learning outcomes through Problem Based Learning (PBL). A Classroom Action Research design based on the Kemmis and McTaggart spiral model was applied across two cycles, involving 25 seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 7 Ambon in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through performance tests and observation sheets, then analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques. Results showed an increase in classical learning completeness from 44% in cycle I to 100% in cycle II, with the class average rising from 69 to 83. Improvements were observed across cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains. The PBL model effectively improves badminton backhand service learning outcomes and is recommended as an innovative instructional model in junior high school physical education.
