PENGARUH PEMBELAJARAN BERBASIS MASALAH KONTEKSTUAL DENGAN TEKNIK SCAFOLDING TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN KOMUNIKASI MATEMATIK SISWA

ABSTRACT
Students still experience difficulties in analyzing and solving mathematical problems, expressing ideas, understanding symbols and variables, and solving word problems. This study aims to analyze the effect of Contextual Structured Problem-Based Learning (PBMKTS) on improving the Mathematical Operation Ability (KOM) of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 11 Buton Pasarwajo in the 2024/2025 academic year. This research is an experimental study involving 112 students, with samples selected using purposive sampling and random sampling techniques. Data were collected through KOM tests in the form of pretest and posttest. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, namely the Paired Samples T-Test. The results of descriptive analysis indicate that the average students’ mathematical operation ability is still relatively low both before and after the treatment, although there is an improvement after the implementation of PBMKTS. Meanwhile, the inferential analysis shows that there is a significant effect of PBMKTS on improving students’ KOM. Therefore, PBMKTS can be considered an effective alternative learning approach to enhance students’ mathematical operation ability, although the results have not yet reached an optimal level.
ABSTRAK
Siswa masih mengalami kesulitan dalam menganalisis dan memecahkan masalah matematika, mengemukakan ide, memahami simbol dan variabel, serta menyelesaikan soal cerita. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah Kontekstual Terstruktur (PBMKTS) terhadap peningkatan Kemampuan Operasi Matematika (KOM) siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 11 Buton Pasarwajo tahun ajaran 2024/2025. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan jumlah populasi sebanyak 112 siswa, dan pengambilan sampel dilakukan melalui teknik purposive sampling dan random sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan tes KOM berupa pretest dan posttest. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan inferensial, yaitu uji Paired Samples T-Test. Hasil analisis deskriptif menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata kemampuan operasi matematika siswa masih tergolong rendah baik sebelum maupun setelah perlakuan, namun mengalami peningkatan setelah diterapkan PBMKTS. Sementara itu, hasil analisis inferensial menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari penerapan PBMKTS terhadap peningkatan KOM siswa. Dengan demikian, PBMKTS dapat menjadi salah satu alternatif pembelajaran yang efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan operasi matematika siswa meskipun hasil yang dicapai belum optimal.
