ABSTRACT
The Hallyu phenomenon in Indonesia, particularly the popularity of BTS, has encouraged the formation of parasocial relationships (PSR) among its fans, or ARMY. PSR is a one-way emotional attachment that arises through digital interaction with media figures. On the other hand, marital satisfaction reflects an individual’s evaluation of the quality of long-term relationships. This study aims to determine the relationship between PSR and marital satisfaction among married ARMY members. The method used is a correlational quantitative approach with purposive sampling technique. There were 127 participants in this study with the criteria of having been an ARMY for at least 1 year and being married for at least 1 year. The instruments used were the Multiple Parasocial Relationships Scale (MPRS) and the ENRICH Marital Inventory (EMI). The data in this study had a non-normal distribution, so data analysis was performed using Spearman’s rho non-parametric correlation test. The results of the study showed that PSR and marital satisfaction were in the high category. The correlation test results showed a positive and significant relationship between PSR and marital satisfaction (r = 0.180, p < 0.05). This finding indicates that parasocial attachment does not necessarily have negative implications, but can instead coexist with a good quality marital relationship.
