Abstract

Music not only serves as a form of entertainment but also plays an important role in supporting mental health, particularly among young people who face various academic and social pressures. One notable phenomenon is how popular songs, especially those from the K-Pop genre, are interpreted by fans as tools for coping and self-healing. This study aims to explore positive music, specifically the song Magic Shop by BTS, as a symbolic space for psychological healing among fans aged 18–25, as well as its relevance within the context of university life and classroom learning activities. This research employs a mixed-methods approach. The data were analyzed thematically to identify participants’ subjective experiences in interpreting the song Magic Shop and its impact on their emotional well-being. The findings indicate that all participants perceived Magic Shop as a source of emotional support that helped reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood, and encourage self-reflection and self-acceptance. The song was perceived as an emotionally safe symbolic space where participants could mentally rest, engage in inner dialogue, and reduce self-blame. These findings suggest that positive musik functions as an adaptive and easily accessible form of non-formal self-healing for university students. In the context of learning, the results show that such musik can be beneficial as a simple pre-learning activity to help stabilize students’ emotions, enhance learning readiness, and create a safe and supportive classroom atmosphere. This study emphasizes that students’ emotional well-being is a crucial aspect that supports the success of the learning process in higher education.
