Learning motivation is an essential factor in students' academic success. However, studies examining the influence of nomophobia on Arabic language learning motivation in higher education remain limited, despite the increasing intensity of smartphone use that may affect students' learning processes. This study aimed to examine the relationship between nomophobia and intrinsic motivation for learning Arabic among students of the Arabic Language Education Program at Syekh Yusuf Islamic University. The novelty of this study lies in investigating the relationship between these two variables within the context of Arabic language learning among Generation Z university students, an area that has received limited attention in previous research. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design involving 140 students selected through proportional quota sampling. Data were collected using the adapted Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMP-Q) and the Intrinsic Motivation Inventory (IMI) and were analyzed using the Pearson Product-Moment correlation test. The findings indicate that most students exhibited a moderate level of nomophobia and a high level of intrinsic learning motivation. Furthermore, the results reveal that nomophobia does not have a significant relationship with intrinsic motivation for learning Arabic, suggesting that other factors may play a more substantial role in shaping students' learning motivation. These findings imply that instructional strategies should place greater emphasis on strengthening students' intrinsic motivation while promoting the responsible use of smartphones to support the Arabic language learning process.
