Abstract

Discipline is a key element in student character building, but in reality, there is still low student compliance within school communities. This study aims to test the effectiveness of implementing a reward system as a form of positive reinforcement in increasing the discipline of Tifo Community students at SMA Muhammadiyah X. The research method used was pre-experimental with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest design for 15 class XI students. Data were collected using a discipline scale that measures aspects of punctuality, compliance with rules, task responsibility, and cooperation. The results showed an increase in discipline scores in the post-test phase, where 8 of the 15 students experienced a significant increase in the discipline category. Providing rewards in the form of verbal praise, appreciation points, and symbolic awards proved to be able to foster extrinsic motivation which then internalized into positive habits. The conclusion of this study is that the reward technique is effective in suppressing undisciplined behavior and creating a more productive community climate.


ABSTRAK

Kedisiplinan merupakan elemen kunci dalam pembentukan karakter siswa, namun pada realitanya masih ditemukan rendahnya kepatuhan siswa dalam komunitas sekolah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas penerapan sistem reward sebagai bentuk positive reinforcement dalam meningkatkan kedisiplinan siswa Komunitas Tifo di SMA X. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pre-eksperimental dengan desain One-Group Pretest-Posttest terhadap 15 siswa kelas XI. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan skala kedisiplinan yang mengukur aspek ketepatan waktu, kepatuhan tata tertib, tanggung jawab tugas, dan kerja sama. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan skor kedisiplinan pada fase post-test, di mana 8 dari 15 siswa mengalami kenaikan kategori kedisiplinan secara signifikan. Pemberian reward berupa pujian verbal, poin apresiasi, dan penghargaan simbolis terbukti mampu menumbuhkan motivasi ekstrinsik yang kemudian terinternalisasi menjadi kebiasaan positif. Simpulan penelitian ini adalah teknik reward efektif dalam menekan perilaku tidak disiplin dan menciptakan iklim komunitas yang lebih produktif.
