Abstract

This study reconstructs value-based educational marketing through a single case study at Kuttab Ibnu Abbas Klaten, Indonesia. Much of the educational marketing literature remains oriented toward marketing mix, competitive branding, and promotion, and thus does not fully explain school choice driven by value alignment and trust. A qualitative single case study design was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the head of the kuttab, four teachers, and twelve parents; participatory observation; and document analysis of institutional policies and internal evaluation reports. Thematic analysis (open, axial, and selective coding) was used. Findings indicate that marketing at this value-based institution is not primarily promotional but is anchored in a value proposition (faith, the Qur'an, and adab), value congruence with families, trust built through teacher exemplarity and service, and social transmission via word of mouth and parent communities. An effective Value Proposition will create a Value Fit that encourages Trust Formation, triggers Social Transmission and results in Parental Decisions. The main conclusion emphasizes that value-based educational marketing in non-formal institutions operates through value resonance and trust rather than transactional logic alone. The study extends educational marketing theory in non-formal Islamic education
