ABSTRACT
This study was motivated by the low level of students’ speaking skills in using Indonesian during academic presentations, as reflected in their lack of confidence, unsystematic delivery of ideas, and dependence on presentation texts. The study aimed to analyze students’ speaking skills through the presentation method in Indonesian language learning at the university level. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed involving 25 third-semester students of the Education Study Program enrolled in an Indonesian language course. Data were collected through observation and documentation of students’ presentation activities. The findings revealed that the presentation method improved students’ self-confidence, speaking fluency, language accuracy, and ability to interact with the audience. Students also demonstrated progress in organizing ideas coherently, reducing reliance on written texts, and providing stronger arguments during discussions. These findings indicate that the presentation method is effective in developing students’ speaking skills and academic communication competence. This study contributes to strengthening Indonesian language instruction through communication-based learning practices in higher education.
