PENERAPAN LESSON STUDY UNTUK GURU IPA DALAM MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN KETERAMPILAN PROSES SAINS SISWA

This research aims to evaluate the implementation of Lesson Study in Science (IPA) education to improve scientific process skills among middle school (SMP) students. Lesson Study was applied as a collaborative approach that supports both the effectiveness of teaching practices and students’ skills in observation, measurement, and analytical exploration of physical phenomena. This research employed a classroom action research (CAR) methodology conducted through multiple cycles (in this case, two cycles), each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of the research were seventh-grade students at SMP swasta in Tangerang, with learning materials focused on forces, specifically the topics of friction and springs. The findings indicate that Lesson Study significantly enhances students’ scientific process skills, as evidenced by improved observation scores in the second cycle. Lesson Study proved effective in helping Science teachers design learning activities that strengthen students’ scientific process skills, particularly in observation and measurement.
ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi penerapan Lesson Study dalam pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA) untuk meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP). Lesson Study diterapkan sebagai pendekatan kolaboratif yang mendukung peningkatan efektivitas pengajaran guru dan keterampilan siswa dalam melakukan observasi, pengukuran, dan eksplorasi analisis terhadap fenomena fisika. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan melalui beberapa siklus (dalam hal ini dua siklus), yang terdiri dari tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII di sebuah SMP swasta di Tangerang, dengan materi pembelajaran tentang gaya (forces), khususnya subtopik gesekan (friction) dan pegas (springs). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Lesson Study secara signifikan meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains siswa, terbukti dari peningkatan skor observasi keterampilan sains pada siklus kedua. Lesson Study terbukti efektif dalam membantu guru IPA merancang kegiatan pembelajaran yang memperkuat keterampilan proses sains siswa, khususnya keterampilan dalam pengamatan dan pengukuran.
