Abstract

ABSTRACT

Learning motivation is an important aspect of student engagement in Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK), while small-game activities may create active and enjoyable learning experiences. However, previous studies have predominantly examined changes in motivation following game-based learning, whereas the relationship between the level of game activity and motivation at the individual level has received less attention when examined simultaneously. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between small-game activity and PJOK learning motivation and to examine changes in both variables before and after learning among fifth-grade students at SDN 3 Gumantar. A quantitative approach with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design involved 20 students selected through total sampling. Data were collected using 10-item questionnaires measuring small-game activity and learning motivation, and analyzed using validity, reliability, normality, linearity, Spearman’s rho, and Paired Samples t-test. All items were valid, with reliability coefficients of 0.760 and 0.742, respectively. The results showed no significant relationship between small-game activity and learning motivation at posttest (rho=-0.137; p=0.564). However, both variables changed significantly after learning (p<0.001). These findings indicate that small-game activities may support positive PJOK learning experiences, but students’ motivation is influenced by broader factors beyond game activity alone.
