Abstract

Children living in orphanages are at high risk of experiencing emotional problems, particularly low levels of gratitude and aggressive behavior, which also affect caregiver fatigue. This study was conducted based on Positive Psychology Theory by Emmons & McCullough and Skinner’s behavior modification theory. The study aimed to analyze the levels of gratitude and aggression among children living in an orphanage. The method used was a one-group pre-test and post-test design without a comparison group, involving five children aged 7 to 10 years at Orphanage X. Data were collected using the Indonesian Gratitude Scale and the Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ). The intervention was implemented for approximately two months (March–May 2026) through a gratitude piggy bank program and a star sticker-based token economy system. The results showed that 80% of the children were in the moderate category of gratitude and that the average aggression score decreased from 79.40 to 70.80. These findings indicate that the combination of the two intervention programs demonstrates potential benefits in improving children's emotional well-being. This study emphasizes a holistic approach that includes children in efforts to enhance psychological well-being within the orphanage environment.

ABSTRAK

Anak-anak yang tinggal di panti asuhan memiliki risiko tinggi terhadap masalah emosional, terutama merasa kurang bersyukur dan menunjukkan perilaku yang agresif, yang juga berimbas pada situasi kelelahan pengasuh. Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan teori psikologi positif Emmons dan McCullough dan modifikasi perilaku Skinner. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat rasa syukur dan agresivitas anak panti asuhan. Metode yang digunakan adalah desain pre-test dan post-test pada satu kelompok tanpa kelompok pembanding, yang melibatkan 5 anak berusia 7 hingga 10 tahun di Panti Asuhan X. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan Skala Rasa Syukur versi Indonesia, Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ). Intervensi dilaksanakan selama kurang lebih dua bulan (Maret–Mei 2026) melalui program celengan bersyukur, sistem token economy berbasis stiker bintang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 80% anak berada pada kategori sedang dalam hal bersyukur dan penurunan skor agresivitas rata-rata dari 79,40 menjadi 70,80. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa kombinasi kedua program intervensi tersebut menunjukkan potensi manfaat dalam meningkatkan kesejahteraan emosional anak Penelitian ini menegaskan pendekatan holistik yang mencakup anak dalam upaya peningkatan kesejahteraan psikologis di lingkungan panti asuhan.
