Abstract

ABSTRACT

Low parenting self-efficacy among parents can affect the quality of parenting, such as difficulties in managing children’s emotions, less supportive communication, and uncertainty in implementing appropriate parenting practices. This condition was also found among mothers at RPTRA Melati Duri Pulo based on the results of the initial observation, which indicated the presence of high-tone communication patterns, prohibitions without clear explanations, and low emotional support for children. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of a parenting psychoeducation program in improving parenting self-efficacy among mothers at RPTRA Melati Duri Pulo through pre-test and post-test measurements. The study employed a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 33 mothers as participants. The research instrument used the self-efficacy subscale of the Parenting Sense of Competence Scale-Revised (PSOC-R). Data were analyzed using the Paired Sample T-Test. The results showed an increase in the mean score from 29.55 on the pre-test to 38.97 on the post-test with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Therefore, the parenting psychoeducation program was proven effective in improving mothers’ parenting self-efficacy at RPTRA Melati Duri Pulo.
