Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to the ability of computer systems to simulate human intelligence in processing information, solving problems, and making decisions. In the field of education, AI offers significant benefits, including personalized learning experiences and increased administrative efficiency. The Indonesian government has actively promoted the integration of AI in schools, including within inclusive education settings. Children with special needs often face various learning challenges, such as difficulties in understanding content, limited communication abilities, and the lack of instructional approaches tailored to their individual learning styles. In this context, AI is particularly important as it provides adaptive and responsive technology-based solutions that address the specific needs of each student. This study aims to examine the use of AI to support children with special needs in inclusive schools. A systematic literature review was conducted using the PRISMA approach to identify and synthesize relevant studies. The findings reveal that AI has been applied to deliver adaptive learning materials, provide assistive tools such as adaptive communication aids and interactive learning supports, implement automated assessment systems, and enable early identification of students’ special educational needs. AI fosters a more personalized, interactive, and responsive learning environment, which is essential for students with special needs. In conclusion, AI plays a strategic role in addressing the educational challenges faced by children with special needs and contributes to building a more inclusive, equitable, and just learning environment for all learners.
