Abstract

This study aims to analyze the pattern of leadership regeneration and the implementation of good governance principles in the governance of the Darussalam Martapura Islamic Boarding School, as well as to formulate an integrative model from the perspective of Islamic Education Management. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies, then analyzed using data reduction techniques, data display, and interactive conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that leadership regeneration occurs through a cultural mechanism based on the values of trust, devotion, and moral legitimacy of the kiai, but has begun to transform into a structural pattern through task delegation and role distribution. The implementation of good governance principles is evident in the practice of participatory deliberation, internal administrative reporting, and periodic evaluation, although accountability is still predominantly based on trust and has not fully used measurable performance indicators. This study concludes that the governance of the Islamic boarding school is in a transition phase towards a more professional collective-participatory model. The theoretical contribution of this study lies in the formulation of a value-driven governance model, namely the integration of the moral-charismatic legitimacy of the Islamic boarding school and modern managerial rationality. This model emphasizes that professionalization of Islamic boarding school governance can be achieved without losing its spiritual and traditional identity.
