Abstract

ABSTRACT

This study addresses the gap between the teachings of Jesus’ love in Christian Religious Education (PAK) and the actual attitudes and behaviors demonstrated by students in school, which are reflected in low levels of empathy and the presence of social conflicts. The contextual teaching approach is considered relevant because it links religious concepts with students’ real-life experiences, enabling a deeper and more applicable understanding of Christian values. This research aims to determine the influence of the contextual learning approach on students’ understanding of Jesus’ love. A quantitative method was employed with a sample of 30 students from Public Junior High School 5 Gunungsitoli, selected from a total population of 300 students. The research instrument consisted of a 30-item questionnaire, which was tested for validity, reliability, normality, linearity, and hypothesis testing. The results show that all questionnaire items were valid and reliable, the data were normally distributed, and the calculated t-value (11.917) exceeded the t-table value (1.697) at a significance level of ? = 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the contextual teaching approach has a significant influence on enhancing students’ understanding of Jesus’ love and is appropriate for strengthening the internalization of Christian values in PAK learning.

Pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Kristen (PAK) mengalami kesenjangan antara ajaran kasih Yesus dengan sikap dan tindakan siswa di sekolah, yang tercermin dari rendahnya empati serta adanya konflik sosial dalam interaksi sehari-hari. Pendekatan pembelajaran kontekstual dipandang relevan karena mampu menghubungkan konsep keagamaan dengan pengalaman hidup nyata siswa, sehingga nilai kasih dapat dipahami secara lebih mendalam dan aplikatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana pendekatan kontekstual berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan pemahaman siswa mengenai kasih Yesus. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif dengan sampel sebanyak 30 siswa dari SMP Negeri 5 Gunungsitoli, yang diambil dari populasi berjumlah 300 orang. Instrumen penelitian berupa kuesioner dengan 30 butir pernyataan yang diuji melalui uji validitas, reliabilitas, normalitas, linearitas, dan uji hipotesis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh butir instrumen dinyatakan valid dan reliabel, data berdistribusi normal, serta nilai thitung (11,917) lebih besar daripada ttabel (1,697) pada taraf signifikansi ? = 0,05. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pendekatan pembelajaran kontekstual berpengaruh signifikan dalam meningkatkan pemahaman siswa tentang kasih Yesus dan layak diterapkan dalam pembelajaran PAK untuk memperkuat internalisasi nilai-nilai Kristiani.
