ABSTRACT
Early childhood motor development is an important aspect of their growth and learning. However, in the modern era, children have fewer opportunities for free play due to various factors, such as increased use of technology and changes in parenting patterns. Therefore, effective strategies are needed to support children's motor development, one of which is through observational learning in the relay game “Hola Hop.” This study aims to examine the role of observational learning on children's motor development through the relay game “Hola Hop” in the context of the Era of Free Play. The research method used is a pre-test and post-test control group design. This study involved two groups of children aged between 4-6 years. The experimental group underwent the “Hola Hop” relay game with an observational learning approach, while the control group did not receive a similar intervention. Data was collected through motor tests before and after the treatment. The results showed that the experimental group that implemented observational learning experienced significant improvements in motor development compared to the control group. This finding confirms the importance of implementing Observational Learning in children's motor learning through play. The implications of this study indicate that an observation-based learning approach can be an effective strategy in improving children's motor skills, especially in the Era of Merdeka Bermain which emphasizes freedom and exploration in children's activities.
