Abstract

This research aims to analyze the ability of prospective mathematics teacher students to solve problems based on their learning styles, namely visual, auditory and kinesthetic. The ability to solve mathematical problems is an important skill that prospective teachers need to develop to support effective learning. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, involving students from the mathematics teacher education program at Wisnuwardhana University. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observation and documentation, and analyzed using a thematic approach. The results showed that the visual learning style dominates (50%), followed by auditory (30%) and kinesthetic (20%). Students with a visual learning style show the highest ability in solving problems involving graphical representations and diagrams, with an average score of 75%. Auditory students excel in understanding material through verbal explanations and discussions, with an average score of 65%, while kinesthetic students are more effective in direct practice-based learning, with an average score of 60%. Adapting teaching methods to suit students' learning styles, such as integrated visualization, verbal discussions, and direct practice activities, is highly recommended to increase the effectiveness of mathematics learning. This research contributes to the development of more inclusive and adaptive curricula and learning strategies in higher education, taking into account the needs of students' learning styles. It is hoped that the results of this research can create a learning environment that supports the development of optimal problem solving abilities for prospective mathematics teacher students.

ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan mahasiswa calon guru matematika dalam memecahkan masalah berdasarkan gaya belajar yang mereka miliki, yaitu visual, auditori, dan kinestetik. Kemampuan memecahkan masalah matematika merupakan keterampilan penting yang perlu dikembangkan oleh calon guru untuk mendukung pembelajaran yang efektif. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus, melibatkan mahasiswa dari program pendidikan guru matematika di Universitas Wisnuwardhana. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi, dan dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gaya belajar visual mendominasi (50%), diikuti oleh auditori (30%) dan kinestetik (20%). Mahasiswa dengan gaya belajar visual menunjukkan kemampuan tertinggi dalam memecahkan masalah yang melibatkan representasi grafis dan diagram, dengan skor rata-rata 75%. Mahasiswa auditori unggul dalam memahami materi melalui penjelasan verbal dan diskusi, dengan skor rata-rata 65%, sementara mahasiswa kinestetik lebih efektif dalam pembelajaran berbasis praktik langsung, dengan skor rata-rata 60%. Penyesuaian metode pengajaran yang sesuai dengan gaya belajar mahasiswa, seperti integrasi visualisasi, diskusi verbal, dan kegiatan praktik langsung, sangat direkomendasikan untuk meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran matematika. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada pengembangan kurikulum dan strategi pembelajaran yang lebih inklusif dan adaptif di pendidikan tinggi, dengan mempertimbangkan kebutuhan gaya belajar mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang mendukung pengembangan kemampuan pemecahan masalah yang optimal bagi mahasiswa calon guru matematika.
