Intensive social media use among university students may extend into the night and potentially disrupt regular sleep patterns. University students are an important population to study because of their high exposure to social media, combined with academic demands and social activities that may affect their ability to regulate their rest time. Although previous studies have demonstrated an association between social media use and bedtime delay, evidence regarding the relationship between social media addiction and bedtime procrastination among students at Universitas Negeri Padang remains limited. This study contributes empirical evidence on the relationship between these two variables in the context of students at Universitas Negeri Padang. This study aimed to determine the level of social media addiction, describe bedtime procrastination, and analyze the relationship between social media addiction and bedtime procrastination among students at Universitas Negeri Padang. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed using purposive sampling. The participants were 395 active students of Universitas Negeri Padang. Data were collected online using the Social Media Addiction Scale and the Bedtime Procrastination Scale. The results showed that the majority of students had moderate levels of social media addiction and bedtime procrastination. TikTok and Instagram were the most frequently used social media platforms among the respondents. The correlation analysis revealed a positive and significant relationship between social media addiction and bedtime procrastination, with a moderate strength of association. These findings indicate that higher levels of social media addiction are associated with a greater tendency among students to engage in bedtime procrastination. The findings highlight the importance of managing social media use and strengthening self-regulation as part of efforts to maintain regular sleep patterns among university students.
