Abstract

Palliative care is a medical approach that aims to improve the quality of life of patients facing serious and incurable illnesses. Communication and expression of emotions in patients in palliative care is often a challenge. Art therapy has gained attention as an additional approach to helping patients overcome communication difficulties and express feelings. A 39 year old man suffering from advanced cancer. During hospitalization, patients often look sad, anxious and irritable. The art therapy chosen by the patient was drawing using drawing books and colored pencils as media. Art therapy sessions help patients feel calmer and reduce anxiety related to palliative care. The application of art therapy results in a marked improvement in the patient's ability to communicate and express emotions. Patients engage in various artistic media to convey feelings and thoughts that were previously difficult to articulate verbally. Art therapy has the potential to improve communication and emotional expression in patients undergoing palliative care. This approach can be an important complement to holistic care for patients with serious illnesses.
