Abstract

ABSTRACT

This study aims to analyze the impact of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) on increasing VO?max in soccer players as a key indicator of aerobic capacity, which plays an important role in supporting physical performance on the field. In the world of modern soccer, the body's ability to optimize oxygen consumption and utilization is a determining factor in maintaining high game intensity. This study used an experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design involving two groups of athletes, namely the experimental group that was given HIIT training and the control group that performed conventional training for eight weeks with a frequency of three times per week. The results showed that the experimental group experienced a significant increase in VO?max compared to the control group, indicating that high-intensity and structured interval training can stimulate physiological adaptations in the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, improve oxygen transport efficiency, and increase muscle metabolic capacity. In addition to being effective in improving aerobic endurance, HIIT training has also been proven to be time-efficient, easy to implement, and safe when done under proper supervision. Overall, this study concludes that High-Intensity Interval Training is an effective, efficient, and applicable training method for improving VO?max and supporting the performance of soccer athletes.
