Abstract

Higher education represents a crucial stage in an individual’s life, as students acquire skills, knowledge, and experiences that strongly influence their future direction. In the context of global competition and increasingly complex social demands, universities are required not only to focus on academic achievement but also to pay attention to non-academic factors that significantly shape student satisfaction and success. One of these factors is student place attachment, which refers to the emotional bond formed through experiences, social interactions, and the physical environment of the campus. This study aimed to examine the extent of student attachment to Campus X and to analyze the differences between students’ expectations before entering the university and the reality they experienced afterward. The research employed a quantitative approach with a sample of 257 students selected through simple random sampling. The instrument used was a questionnaire covering affective, cognitive, and behavioral dimensions. The results revealed a significant difference between students’ initial expectations and their actual experiences, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. These findings suggest that students’ place attachment is influenced by the quality of facilities, social interactions, and academic experiences. The study is expected to provide strategic insights for university management in strengthening students’ sense of belonging, loyalty, and overall satisfaction.
