Abstract

This research aims to analyze the development and implementation of PjBL in higher education through bibliometric analysis. Using data from Publish or Perish and Watase UAKE for the 2019-2023 period, this analysis identifies publication trends, dominant research themes, and the most influential authors and institutions in PjBL research. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, 114 relevant article publications were found in the Publish or Perish and Watase UAKE databases, with 25 documents from the period 2019 to 2023 selected and analyzed based on the inclusion criteria. The literature review process was carried out in accordance with PRISMA guidelines to ensure the quality of results and data analysis using VOSviewer software version 1.6.20. The research results show a significant decline in the publication of PjBL articles in the tertiary context, and there was the highest peak of publications in 2020. Most of the publications came from Spain, Indonesia and the United States, and the approaches most frequently used were quantitative and qualitative methods. Themes explored include the impact, role and implementation of PjBL. Density mapping analysis shows that knowledge about project-based learning has not been explored in depth, so further research is needed to expand understanding regarding the implementation of PjBL in the higher education context.
