Trichomonas vaginalis infections are increasing. Trichomoniasis is caused by the protozoan Trichomonas vaginalis, which often attacks the lower urogenital tract. Age, education, genital hygiene, use of clean water, changing sexual partners, regular health checks, use of medication or vaginal cleansing fluids, and knowledge about Trichomonas vaginalis infections are some of the factors associated with this incident. The parasite T. vaginalis is a group of protozoan microorganisms that can cause vaginal discharge and inflammation. The focus of this study was the presence of T. vaginalis in the urine of housewives residing in the Cisaranten sub-district of Arcamanik district in Bandung, West Java. The study was conducted at the Microbiology Laboratory of SMKN 13 Bandung. Qualitative analysis was used in this study. Two approaches were used: urine sediment sedimentation to identify the movement of Trichomonas vaginalis and Giemsa staining to identify the form of Trichomonas vaginalis. This study used a random sampling method. The sample size was 30 housewives. Out of 30 housewives, the study results revealed that two (7%) had contracted the protozoan T. vaginalis. This indicates that people still don't maintain proper hygiene to prevent fungal, bacterial, or parasitic infections that cause vaginal discharge.
ABSTRAK
Infeksi Trichomonas Vaginalis semakin meningkat.
